Well, what can I say? 2021 has been an amazing year for us at The Broken Spine and we owe it all to our regular readers, our contributors; our authors; and our team of volunteers.

We have successfully published four titles, alongside a bunch of flash fiction. We introduced our #WriterOfTheMonth feature on Twitter which allowed for us to celebrate a host of authors and this will continue long into 2022. We have also brought you a wide range of interviews with prominent poets and writers which really get into the meat of what it is to be an artist, we owe thanks to Dr Kate Evans, Henry Normal, David Hanlon, Persis Karim, Malika Booker, Matthew MC Smith, Casey Bailey, Jericho Brown, Nick Makoha, and Stuart Goldsmith for giving us their time and sharing their views on a wide range of issues. We will bring you the final three of these Dog Ear Feature Interviews in the early part of next year. We might even get around to recording some more!

We hope that in 2022 we can do even bigger things! We have plans to publish two further Artist Collectives, three further individual author chapbooks, the inaugural edition of BOLD, the first series of texts from The Angels and Dogs Poetry Project and much more besides. Our first major announcement will come in the first week of January, so please keep your eyes peeled for that.

We will continue to host online events, further explore live events when permitted to do so, and have a host of other things up our sleeve too!

We’re going to take a short break from our #SundayDrop blog posts, and will be back with a bang in the New Year. Please enjoy your breaks over Christmas, whether you celebrate or not.

Signing off for 2021, much love!

Alan Parry – Founding Editor.
