The Animals are English rhythm-and-blues and rock legends, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. 2022 sees their farewell tour, featuring original band members John Steel and Micky Gallagher, along with Danny Handley and Roberto Ruiz. Zoot Money, English vocalist, keyboardist and bandleader best known for his playing of the Hammond organ and association with his Big Roll Band, provides support.
Famed for their their gritty, bluesy sound, as exemplified by their signature song and transatlantic number-one hit single The House of the Rising Sun, seminal rhythm-and-blues band The Animals also had hits with classics like We Gotta Get Out of This Place, It’s My Life, Don’t Bring Me Down, I’m Crying, See See Rider and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.
The original Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, and they’ve been heralded as major influences of many important artists, most notable Bruce Springsteen and Genesis.
They bring their celebratory show to The Met in Bury as part of their farewell tour, celebrating 60 years as a driving force in British music.
