First achieving fame in the 1970s when emerging from the London punk rock scene as the lead singer of the group Generation X, rock legend Billy Idol has become a global household name, and he comes to Manchester in June.
Billy, whose name Billy Idol was inspired by a schoolteacher’s description of him as “idle”, has had a solo career of international recognition. He was a lead artist during the MTV-driven “Second British Invasion” in the United States and is most revered for his massive singles White Wedding, Rebel Yell and Eyes Without a Face.
Now 66, Idol is back out on tour with his sensational band for some more thumping rock’n’roll fun covering his entire eight studio album career. If its a night of awesome vocals and guitar riffage you’re after in amongst some of the defining tunes of recent decades, this is a gig not to miss.
