Nashville star and two-time Grammy nominee Beth Nielsen Chapman will ride into Liverpool this autumn.
Chapman is touring to promote her much anticipated new album CrazyTown (Cooking Vinyl 23/09/22), although she will be performing songs from her 15 album back catalogue – it shouldn’t be forgotten than Chapman is a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, 2016.
The new single, Hey Girl, is raucous, bluesy, and a feminist anthem and reaction to the #MeToo movement. It represents her first new music in over four years. If it represents what’s to come on the rest of the album – be excited!
Chapman says, ‘We were talking about the capacity for survival and overcoming the challenges that are part of being in the world as a female, balancing strength and vulnerability. As the writing of the song progressed, we touched on feeling lost, being taken advantage of, and navigating one’s safety and the experience of not being taken seriously.’
Legendary producer Ray Kennedy (Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle) has left his fingerprints on this song co-written by Annie Roboff and Jessica Sweetman, and as such it synthesises elements of classic rock, blues, and pop. It’s bold, relevant, and essential listening.
Chapman has achieved phenomenal success for a prolonged period, earning seven #1 singles and having tracks recorded by such artists as Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Elton John, and Neil Diamond.
Beth is also a breast cancer survivor and environmentalist and considers herself a creativity midwife, passionate about inspiring others to fully blossom into their creative life.
Throughout her career, Beth has been in demand as a keynote speaker and teacher of workshops on creativity, songwriting, grief, and healing through art, using a unique inspiring approach to tapping into the creative process.
