Call for Submissions: Glow: City at Night Poems

The Broken Spine is excited to announce that submissions for our latest slimline anthology, Glow: City at Night Poems, welcoming poets to submit their work will be open throughout January 2025. This anthology is the newest addition to our esteemed series of slimline poetry collections, following the success of After Hours: Beat Culture Made New, and Last Light: Apocalypse Poetry, and will follow the forthcoming release of High-Rise: Brutalist Poetry. We are dedicated to showcasing poetry that stands on the edge, embodying depth, craft, and an undeniable edge and attitude.

Glow: City at Night Poems is seeking vibrant and varied narratives that unfold in the urban twilight. This collection will illuminate the diverse experiences and emotions of city life after dark, exploring themes of loneliness, transformation, and the intertwining of nature with the urban environment, all set against the backdrop of silence and sound. 

Submission Window and Guidelines:

Open Call Duration: January 2025. We invite poets to submit their work throughout the entire month, offering ample opportunity to be part of this unique collection.

Themes of Interest: We’re particularly drawn to poets poems that push boundaries and explore the fringes of experience and expression. Whether it’s through vivid character studies, innovative narrative structures, or the creative use of language and imagery, we’re looking for work that challenges, delights, and transcends the ordinary.

Poetry Formats: Submissions should be free verse, demonstrating a mastery of poetic craft and the ability to convey deep and engaging stories and emotions.

Submission Specifications: Please format your submissions in Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced. Each poet is welcome to submit up to two pieces for consideration. Experimental form that detracts rather than adds to the impact of a poem will be rejected.
