Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer, John Cale, who was a founding member of the American rock band the Velvet Underground comes to Liverpool in July with his stunning live show. 

Over his six-decade career, Cale has cultured various styles across rock, drone, classical, avant-garde and electronic music, and his association with the likes of Andy Warhol, Nico and Lou Reed is stuff of legend. A key figure in New York City’s downtown music scene, Cale is still performing electric shows at 80 and captivating audiences with one of the most diverse and eclectic back catalogues in the business.

Cale is not only a terrific performer, but an adventurous record producer, having worked on the debut albums of several innovative artists, including the Stooges and Patti Smith. Cale was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Velvet Underground in 1996, and the multi-instrumentalist has released 16 solo studio albums to date. 

Cale has influenced and worked with the likes of Brian Eno, Patti Smith, The Stooges, Squeeze, Happy Mondays, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Super Furry Animals and Manic Street Preachers – an incredible CV.
