Iain Matthews is a founding member of some of the UK’s great folk heroes: Matthews Southern Comfort Band, Fairport Convention, Plainsong and more. His fifty year career has been a memorable one in which his group Matthews Southern Comfort Band had a UK number one in 1970 with a cover version of Joni Mitchell’s song “Woodstock”. In 1979 his cover of Terence Boylan’s “Shake It” reached number 13 on the US charts, and in 2018 he published an autobiography, co-written with author and broadcaster Ian Clayton, called “Thro’ My Eyes: A Memoir’’, about his life in the music industry.
