Following the resounding success of the 2022 “40 Years Of Hits Tour,” which was met with rapturous acclaim, and the recent revelation of forthcoming tour dates in Australia and New Zealand early next year, Simple Minds has unveiled their eagerly awaited March 2024 leg of the Global Tour for the UK and Ireland.
In the past decade alone, Simple Minds have graced stages worldwide, captivating hundreds of thousands of fans, including their record-breaking US tour in 2018. The demand to witness the band’s iconic hits such as ‘Promised You a Miracle,’ ‘Glittering Prize,’ ‘Someone Somewhere in Summertime,’ ‘Waterfront,’ ‘Alive and Kicking,’ ‘All The Things She Said,’ ‘Sanctify Yourself,’ ‘Don’t You Forget About Me,’ ‘Mandela Day,’ ‘Belfast Child,’ and ‘See The Lights’ has consistently surged, establishing the band as a perennial live sensation. Reflecting on their electrifying 2022 Wembley Arena performance, The Times proclaimed, “back in vogue and in exhilarating form.”
Having sold over 60 million albums worldwide and securing No.1 hits across the globe, Simple Minds not only remains an essential live act but has also reignited the creative spark that defined their early years. They have earned admiration from a new generation of artists who reference their work. Their recent critically acclaimed album, ‘Direction of the Heart,’ achieved No.4 on the UK album chart and cracked the Top 10 in numerous territories. Mojo hailed the band’s unflagging energy, while other critics lauded their enduring creativity.
As previously announced, ahead of their UK and Ireland tour, Simple Minds will headline the Summer Concert Tour in New Zealand, with performances in Taupo, Hamilton, and Gibbston, as well as Australia’s Red Hot Summer Tour, featuring shows in Mornington, Rochford Winery, Sandstone, and Kings Park.
The UK and Ireland leg of the tour is set to kick off at Leeds First Direct Arena on 15 March, followed by eight more dazzling shows across the UK, culminating in a hometown spectacle at Glasgow’s The OVO Hydro. Dublin’s 3Arena is also on the tour itinerary – see below for full details.
Stay tuned for more announcements of shows around the world as part of the Global Tour 2024, with Simple Minds anticipating an audience of over one million fans worldwide.
