The Broken Spine Live at Christmas: A Stellar Night of Poetry, Music, and Community

Hot on the heels of our sensational summer event at Jimmy’s in Liverpool, The Broken Spine is ecstatic to return to Cooper’s Bar in Southport—where we had the privilege of hosting national treasure Henry Normal last April.

That Magical In-Between Week

Taking place in the enchanting liminal space between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, we invite you to dust off those jeans, add a splash of lippy, and head into town for an evening hosted by Alan Parry, our founding editor.

A Tapestry of Talent

Alan Parry will not only serve as our master of ceremonies, but will also read from his newest collection, Twenty Seven, a soulful homage to Jim Morrison.

But that’s not all! Paul Robert Mullen, the co-founder of The Broken Spine, is set to assemble an all-star band for a musical escapade you won’t forget. And we’ve got Ian Riley of Chainsaw Haircut fame who will unleash a wicked set of classic tracks.

Spotlight on Local Artists

The evening will be a beacon for local poets and musicians alike, featuring an Open Mic segment. Here’s your chance to share your creative expressions in a setting that respects and honors artistic integrity.

Special Guest Star: Rebecca Kenny

Joining this powerhouse line-up is Rebecca Kenny, a close friend of The Broken Spine and a revered performance poet. The founding editor of Bent Key Publishing, Rebecca will reunite with Alan Parry for an engaging and inspiring performance.

Affordable and Inclusive

We are committed to inclusivity. Tickets are available in different tiers, including free options, ensuring that everyone has a chance to be part of this artistic fête.
