Christmas will come early for fans of The Darkness this year, as the iconic rock band prepares to unleash unreleased songs from their forthcoming album Dreams On Toast at a series of intimate in-store shows across the UK this December. These special performances will take place at Rough Trade East in London on December 10th, Rough Trade Nottingham on December 11th, and Rough Trade Liverpool on December 12th, giving fans the rare chance to experience the band up close in small, intimate venues.
These gigs mark the first time The Darkness will perform tracks from Dreams On Toast, their highly anticipated new album set for release in March 2025 via Cooking Vinyl. Tickets for these exclusive events go on sale at 10am on Friday, 25th October via Dice, and each fan attending will receive a signed tour poster as part of the experience. Given the band’s loyal following and the limited capacity of these venues, tickets are expected to sell out in record time.
The announcement follows the recent release of the band’s latest single, “The Longest Kiss,” an upbeat anthem that tips its hat to the ’70s pop-rock brilliance of Queen and Paul McCartney. The track, filled with lively piano melodies and swaggering guitar riffs, offers a tantalising glimpse into the vibrant soundscape fans can expect from Dreams On Toast.
While this trio of intimate performances will give a privileged few a sneak preview, The Darkness will embark on a full-scale UK headline tour in March 2025 to officially support the album’s release. The Dreams On Toast tour will see them play 17 dates across the UK, culminating in a huge finale at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on March 29th. The tour will be supported by Northern Irish indie-rock favourites Ash, who previously shared the stage with The Darkness during their iconic Permission To Land tour over 20 years ago.
For those who can’t make the Rough Trade shows, the larger tour promises to be a grand celebration of The Darkness’s enduring legacy and new material alike. With their trademark mix of flamboyance, humour, and arena-filling rock energy, Dreams On Toast is set to solidify their place as one of Britain’s most beloved rock bands.
