The Constant Wife at the Playhouse: Manners, Marriage and a Masterclass in Control

The entire cast and musicians delivered a first class performance.

With a myriad of emotions, Tointon delivered a sterling performance as the ‘wronged’ wife who appraised her situation with dignity and avoided revenge.

This was a sparkling, quick-witted and fast paced comedy set in 1920s upper-middle class London that was utterly seamless in delivery.

Adding to the wonderful narrative revolving around a society built on social manners and the politics of marriage and a set design of soft pastels and art‑deco‑enabling the audience to fully appreciate the gentle elegance of the era, the play also featured original music composed by multi award winning jazz artist Jamie Cullum.  This reinforced setting the atmosphere for the audience and consolidate the ‘privilege of wealth’ during this time
