Fantastic! Helen Carter delivers the epitome of first-class entertainment in the one-woman revival of Willy Russell’s Shirley Valentine.
Helen Carter is truly magnificent – line-perfect, utterly entertaining, and totally believable. Under the direction of Stephen Fletcher, this is such an outstanding piece of theatre that audiences should rush to buy tickets before the run ends.
Due to Helen’s exceptional talent, this was an absolute joy to watch for the all-ages audience and totally deserving of the three standing ovations. Russell’s character resonated with many; however, the depth of feeling and expression delivered by Carter has received huge praise from theatregoers and both media and press alike. This acclaim has led to the Everyman Theatre extending the performance run, as many people are desperate to see this masterpiece.
The two set designs are intricate and completely in keeping with the play, adding further to the phenomenal production.
As word is spreading, tickets are limited. However, some are still available for this one-woman tour de force – on which the film was based – from the box offices of both The Liverpool Playhouse and Everyman Theatre.
