Cinderella Review – Regal Entertainments Deliver Sparkle and Standout Performances at the Epstein Theatre

Cinderella delivered a first class pantomime that had the audience clapping, cheering and booing (in a good way) at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre.

Every ingredient was present and delivered to perfection: fantastic costumes, local jokes and references, outstanding dancers, comedy and a wonderful cast. What was there not to love?

Local celebrity Leanne Campbell gave a sterling performance as the Fairy Godmother.  Her singing, comic timing, hilarious gestures and face pulling added greatly to her character.  Kevin Duala was equally outstanding as Buttons.  The two radio presenters totally carried the show.  Ex-Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn also appeared in the production however, I really feel that big name draws have to display some singing or dancing talent otherwise they have been booked under false pretenses and leave the audience deflated.  I couldn’t work out if it was nerves or her GCSE drama teacher has instilled in her to grin and gurn after every line, whatever the reason she was utterly wooden. The outstanding dancers along with the fantastic one liners and comedy of the two dames more than made up for ‘Cinders.’
