Hitting the UK (including Liverpool, most thrillingly!) this Autumn is Brooklyn based Annie Keating. Described by American Songwriter as ‘the epitome of what it means to be a truly successful singer/songwriter’, Keating follows a prosperous set of shows this past Spring with a return to Europe in September and October, which will see her take to stages from London to Derry alongside a full band, playing tracks from her most recent LP, as well as unreleased material from her new tour exclusive EP.
This inspiring songwriter has graced NYC and beyond with her dulcet tones for several years past. Though she wrote her first song at 13, it was in 2004 that she released her debut album The High Dive and began to journey along the road of success, from the shores of America right across to the UK. After being talent spotted by the BBC’s very own Bob Harris, she made an appearance on his BBC Country Show, and went on to find a whole host of notable festival lineups, from Take Root festival in the Netherlands to Glasgow’s Americana Festival.
Since her very first LP release 18 years ago, she has retained an admirable career and released a discography of several more LPs and EPs, with last year’s Bristol County Tides completing a set of eight studio albums in total. A music student myself, I’d argue that a longevous career is one of the proudest possible achievements of a musician, and this is a title Annie Keating has certainly obtained!
Not only that, but this aforementioned longevous career has produced many a beautiful track, and doubtlessly continues to, with new material from Keating’s ‘Twenty 22 Tour EP’. Her tracks radiate sunshine- stories told utterly delicately through her sweet, yet undeniably gritty voice, accompanied by the soft jangles of truly staple Americana chords. Evoking much tranquillity and contentment, her sound feels like a perfect soundtrack for sunny days as we transition to Autumn. Which means Keating’s return to the UK could not arrive at a better time! This lovely lady will be joined by an ensemble of wonderful musicians, among whom are rising talent Joe Coombs (who has played with a variety of successful artists such as Robert Vincent and Laura Evans) on guitars, Scott Warman (heard on Bob Harris’s charity release of Stand By Me) on bass and Jamie Dawson, member of The Dreaming Spires and Steady Habits, on drums.
Titled by BBC as ‘one to watch’, Keating will be heading across the UK this autumn with her enchanting live shows, and can be found at any of these gorgeous intimate venues…
