Fantastic Score, Amazing Set, Hilarity, and Pure Madness: Liverpool’s Best Panto Delivers Again

Rating: ★★★★★

Everyman Theatre’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto ‘Cinderella’ is a tour de force in the world of pantomime, solidifying its status as Liverpool’s finest. With each passing year, it surpasses its previous successes, becoming a staple not just for local families but for audiences far and wide.

Writer Luke Barnes and director James Baker have crafted a panto that transcends traditional expectations. This production goes beyond the usual panto mix of engaging music, audience participation, and playful antics, including a memorable scene with water guns soaking the audience.

What sets this panto apart is its exceptionally talented cast, who double as musicians, seamlessly integrating live music into the performance. Their acting prowess is matched by impeccable comic timing, engaging the audience fully in this modern twist on the classic Cinderella tale.

A special commendation goes to Ben Welsh, whose portrayal of Dame Fairy Godmother is both vocally powerful and hilariously timed. The set design, while simple, proves to be highly effective in complementing the performance.

However, the standout of the evening was BSL interpreter Jude Mahon. Her energetic and involved interpretation was a highlight, captivating the audience to the extent that she sometimes stole the spotlight from the main cast.

This panto is a must-see for families looking for a night filled with catchy tunes, laughter, and a modern spin on a classic story. Its blend of sass, silliness, and sparkle, delivered by an incredibly talented cast of actor/musicians, makes ‘Cinderella’ a memorable experience.

‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella’ runs at the Everyman until Saturday, January 20th. Tickets are available at the box office, contactable on 0151 709 4776 or via email at boxoffice@everymanplayhouse.com.
