This was utterly hilarious with an unexpected twist at the end. Funny, original, and all-round entertaining.
From the plot to the acting and singing, the panto this year outdid itself. It is safe to say that this year was literally the best panto the Royal Court has delivered… ever!
All the characters were believable and acted exceptionally well. Paul Duckworth, in particular, was outstanding in his miserly mastery of Scrooge. His comedic timing was en pointe, however, his gesturing and face-pulling added so much to the character that at more than one point the audience truly felt sorry for him.
The unnecessary screeching, screaming, and gruff dulcet voice of Lindzi Germain was toned down, and profanities kept to a minimum. This highlighted her talent—and that of the rest of cast—rather than their usual approach of ‘setting out to shock’ with an abundance of expletives as used in previous years. Lindzi’s rendition of ‘When We Were Young’ was a highlight and utterly spine-chilling!
Keddy Sutton was phenomenal. She portrayed many characters with ease, giving a first-class performance each time she appeared on stage.
The revolving set design was magnificent, easily transitioning between scenes and becoming almost a character itself within the show. The costumes were high quality too.
Finally, the band, who kept everyone together, were utterly superb and moved the show along with scores of popular new and old hits.
Don’t miss this show!
